Abatement Process
Testing Process
To test an area, as required by EPA, we will obtain a minimum of three samples of each homogeneous area. For example, typically the ceiling texture of a room is different from the texture on a wall.
After the samples have been obtained, we send them to a lab to be tested to see if they contain any asbestos fibers. Once the results have been received, we generate a final report of the test results, provide it to our customer, and answer any questions.
Asbestos Abatement Process:
Containment:
The fist step, we do is to create a containment barrier between the areas that we are going to be removing asbestos and the other non-effected areas. These containment areas are to keep any asbestos fibers from going to other areas of the structure. We also will place an air scrubber with a HEPA filter to create negative air in the containment area to control any air coming in or going out of the area.
Removal:
After the containment barrier is constructed, our staff will put on disposable coveralls and respirators to enter the containment area and remove the asbestos materials.
All the asbestos containing materials (ACM) that have been removed, will be double bagged to be taken to an approved asbestos dump site to be disposed of.
HEPA Vacuuming:
After the asbestos materials have been removed, we will be HEPA vacuuming the containment area to remove any dust or particles.
Lock down Encapsulant:
After the HEPA vacuuming is completed, we will apply a post abatement lock down. This will help to encapsulate any fibers left from becoming airborne.
Air Sampling:
Once the Lock Down is dried, we will take an air sample inside the containment area. The sample is then sent to a lab to be tested.
Final Step:
After the air sample is completed, we will remove all plastic containment and air scrubber. The area is then ready to be re-occupied.
